Dear Senator Udall:

We wanted to thank you for the support that you provide to our National Labs and, in particular, your support for LANL.

As an early stage Santa Fe company and a LANL spin-off, APJeT, recently received important technical support from LANL in the form of a “gas flow engineering study." This support was provided under the New Mexico Small Business Assistance program. The assistance we received from LANL provided APJeT with vital fluid flow analysis that we otherwise could not do ourselves due to the cost of the software required and the specialization of the staff required to execute that analysis. The work that the LANL team did aided in a critical step required for the commercialization of our product — a new, cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to finish textiles to make them water and stain repellent on one side, yet also to have the capability to wick moisture on the other side.

The LANL engineering team of John Tanski, Shihai Feng and Alexander Mertz along with administrative support from Kimberly Sherwood, Shandra Clow and Belinda Padilla were responsible for this excellent effort.

Through this program, the collaboration between Laboratory resources and this New Mexico small business helped us to advance and accelerate the commercialization of our technology and the promulgation of the entrepreneurial spirit. As a member of the subcommittees of technology and competitiveness and innovation we thought you should be made aware of this tremendous support that APJeT received.

We thank you and ask that you continue your efforts in supporting our national labs and small business.

Regards,

Gary Selwyn
Chairman and CTO
